I still can’t look at the words “Senior Pastor” next to my name without laughing. This could only be God’s doing! To my surprise and delight, God brought me to Chapel Hill Church to be their pastor and I couldn’t be happier with what He’s done. From Vancouver, Canada (where I grew up) to Haiti (where I served as an agricultural missionary and met my wife) to Minnesota (college), to Senegal, West Africa (where we served for five years), and now back to Minnesota. What a journey! And God used all that to prepare me to serve this church.
I love God, my perfect Father. I love my wife Kim. I love my boys Liam, Jude and Asher. I love this church and what God is doing here. It’s a community where we’re growing in our relationships with Him. He’s teaching us how to truly love each other and be His family. And He’s showing us what He has created us to do. We actually get to be a part of God’s mission in this world, from our neighborhoods to places around the world!
Come and see what God is doing here. We’ll do everything we can to show you who God is, to demonstrate His love for you, and to discover with you the mission He’s created us for.

Jamie Buchanan
Student and Family Ministry Pastor
Education:
University of Northwestern, degrees in Youth Ministry and Christian Education
Family:
Wife – Pam
Children – Wyatt and Paisley
I grew up in a small town in Maine. Yes, I like lobster and Moxie. In high school, I was privileged to have a pastor who poured time into me and encouraged me to pursue youth ministry – a job I didn’t know existed since churches where I lived were so small they only had one pastor. God brought me to Minnesota to study at UNW where I met my wife, Pam. We have two amazing kids. I have had the privilege to serve as a Youth Pastor, Children’s Pastor, Associate Church Planter, and Associate Pastor in several different churches, both rural and urban. I am passionate about encouraging students, their parents, and youth leaders to pursue God and authenticity in their relationships, and I love developing leaders!

Children and Family Ministry Director
Family:
Husband – Ron
Children – Tristan and his wife Charlotte
Mackenzie and her husband Beto
Aidan
Early life for me was all about family. In my home three generations lived under one roof and worked together toward a common goal. But soon the time came for me to leave our small dairy farm in rural Wisconsin to experience life in the big city and so I arrived in St. Paul to begin the journey of higher education at Bethel College (now university). In four short years I obtained a degree and a husband and headed out on international short term missions. After returning from that whirlwind first year of marriage my husband Ron and I settled into jobs and figuring out what God had for us. My husband became an elementary school teacher and I eventually became a homeschooling mom to our three wonderful kids.
Family has always been very important to me and through the years of raising my own children God has given me a passion to equip the families of Chapel Hill as they learn and grow together. I love learning and I love kids. Nothing is better than sitting in a room full of kids and teaching them in ways that honors each of them as individuals.
Here at Chapel Hill your kids will learn how they fit into God’s big story and parents will be equipped and encouraged to disciple their children along the way.

Kyle Lippert
worship and production Director
Education:
Concordia College, Bachelors of Music in Vocal Music Education
Family:
Wife – Emilee
Daughter – Kinley
I grew up in a small-town in Iowa in a big homeschooled family where we all learned to sing, play piano and an additional instrument or two. I fell in love with the church at a young age and music ministry was just a part of my life. I met my lovely wife, Emilee, at Village Creek Bible Camp in Lansing, Iowa where we were both serving in our areas of passion--I was leading worship and serving as a counselor, and Emilee was working as a wrangler in the horse area. I taught 6-12 grade choir for four years until I left that to join the Chapel Hill community in July of 2021!
We live in Burnsville. Emilee and I love to play disc golf together as well as watch professional disc golf tournaments on YouTube! We also love to play volleyball or other sports and games with friends. I enjoy writing and producing music and collecting audio gear to build up my home studio as well as sharing an occasional video on YouTube.
I am thrilled that God has aligned our path with Chapel Hill Church where I know He is doing great things and will continue to do great things! I’m so excited for what He is doing in our lives and am thankful that we serve such an amazing, loving God!

ALYSSA CHILDS
Children's Praise N' Rainbows Director
I’ve been a teacher at Praise N’ Rainbows for the last 3 years and have been a CPR mom since 2018! This program is near and dear to my heart. It has been an instrumental first step into the world of “school” for all 3 of my daughters. It has become a place where they (& I) have made some of our best friends and experienced incredible teacher relationships. Most importantly, it has been a safe place for my kids to grow, learn, and develop a greater love for Jesus .
My husband, Matt, and I have 3 beautiful daughters - Elouise, Madison, and Josette. When life allows me a moment to myself, I enjoy reading, attempting to watercolor paint, writing, and just being out in God’s beautiful creation. I love Jesus, my husband, my kids/being a mom, my family, my church, my friends, summer, sunflowers, teaching, holidays (including birthdays), walks, crafts, and coffee!

HR & Accounting
Chapel Hill has been my church home since 1997! Wow - that is a long time! I grew up in a large family in St. Paul and was saved by Jesus in my early 20’s. I love that Chapel Hill is a church that seeks the truth of who God is and strives to live according to the truths of the Bible.
I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful daughters who both love the Lord. Mark and I are now embracing and enjoying the empty nest as our daughters have married and moved on; one lives in Idaho and one is a missionary in France with our two grandchildren. We now enjoy using our time to travel (mostly to see our kids), eat out, garden, work on home improvement projects and lead a young families home group.

Karen Studt
Administrative Assistant
Education:
University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management, Bachelors of Science in Marketing
Family:
Husband - Aaron
Children - Daphne, Clark, Neil
I joined the staff here in late 2021. My husband and I have been attending Chapel Hill since 2011. With our 3 children now all in school, God’s timing was perfect (as always) and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve here as the Assistant Administrator. I left my full-time position in retail operations in 2019 after nearly a decade in that role and am loving being here at CHC now. In addition to my time in the office, I also am a regular teacher in the Yellow Bird room for our Children’s Praise N’ Rainbows program and a volunteer with the Children’s Programs & Worship Team.
My husband Aaron and I are both originally from Wisconsin but met at the University of Minnesota and we moved to Apple Valley after graduating and getting married in 2011. I didn’t grow up in the church and didn’t come to know and love Jesus until college. Chapel Hill has been a place of growth & community for me, and I praise God for placing us here.
